Essentially, it's an action-packed comedy about a former hitman turned realtor who gets dragged back into his old life when his past catches up to him. With a talented cast and a promising premise, "Love Hurts" is definitely one to watch out for in 2025!

"Love Hurts" is a wild ride of action, comedy, and surprisingly heartfelt moments, anchored by a fantastic performance from Ke Huy Quan. 

Here's a breakdown of what works and what falls a little flat:

The Good:

Ke Huy Quan: He's absolutely magnetic. Quan effortlessly blends the charm of a suburban realtor with the badassery of a former hitman. His comedic timing is spot-on, and he handles the action sequences with impressive agility.

Action Choreography: Director Jonathan Eusebio, with his background in stunt coordination, delivers some truly creative and exciting action sequences. They're kinetic, often brutal, but with a touch of slapstick that keeps the tone light. Think Jackie Chan meets John Wick.

Supporting Cast: Ariana DeBose brings a cool intensity to Rose, and Daniel Wu is a menacing presence as Knuckles. The supporting cast, including Marshawn Lynch and Sean Astin, adds to the fun.

Heart: Beneath the violence and humor, there's a surprisingly touching story about second chances, confronting your past, and the messy nature of love and family.

The Not-So-Good:

Plot: The plot gets a bit convoluted at times, with too many double-crosses and betrayals. It's not always easy to keep track of who's who and what their motivations are.

Pacing: The second act slows down considerably, bogged down by exposition. While it's necessary to develop the story, it disrupts the momentum of the first act.

Humor: While the humor mostly lands, some of the jokes feel forced or rely on cheap gags.

Overall:

"Love Hurts" is a fun and entertaining action-comedy, even if it's not perfect. Ke Huy Quan's performance is worth the price of admission alone, and the action sequences are a blast.
